Why Paniolo?
[ pah-nee-oh-loh ]

"Paniolo" refers to the Hawaiian cowboys or cowgirls who developed their own unique style and traditions related to cattle ranching. The term is derived from the Hawaiian pronunciation of "Español," reflecting the influence of Mexican vaqueros who introduced cattle ranching to the islands in the 1830s. Paniolos are known for their expert horsemanship, roping skills, and unique cultural practices that blend Hawaiian and Mexican influences.

Our Roots

"After spending 43 incredible years in Hawaii, our family has embraced a new chapter in Bandera, Texas, the Cowboy Capital of the World™. My journey began as a teenager working on a ranch, where I fell in love with horses and the cowboy lifestyle. Now, at Paniolo Winery, we combine our love for sharing the aloha spirit with the warmth and hospitality of Texan culture. Please join us, and lift a glass, here in the Hill Country of Texas."
